Our Beliefs

WHAT WE BELIEVE

We are a Great Commission church. As a global community of faith, we are commissioned to TAKE THE GOOD NEWS OF LIFE IN JESUS CHRIST to people everywhere and to spread the message of scriptural holiness across the land.

WE BELIEVE in one God—the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

WE BELIEVE that the Old and New Testament Scriptures, given by plenary inspiration, contain all truth necessary to faith and Christian living.

WE BELIEVE that human beings are born with a fallen nature, and are, therefore, inclined to evil, and that continually.

WE BELIEVE that the finally impenitent are hopelessly and eternally lost.

WE BELIEVE that the atonement through Jesus Christ is for the whole human race; and that whosoever repents and believes on the Lord Jesus Christ is justified and regenerated and saved from the dominion of sin.

WE BELIEVE that believers are to be sanctified wholly, subsequent to regeneration, through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

WE BELIEVE that the Holy Spirit bears witness to the new birth, and also to the entire sanctification of believers.

WE BELIEVE that our Lord will return, the dead will be raised, and the final judgment will take place

First Church Of The Nazarene of Cherryville partners with a variety of organizations to serve our community and make a difference in the world based on the following in-depth breakdown:

GOD

We believe there is one living and true God, who is the Creator, persevere, redeemer, and ruler of the universe. Infinitley perfect in every way and eternally existing as three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (in a relationship known as the Trinity). We beleive that these three are one God and each possesses fully in nature, attributes, and perfections of Deity. Gen. 1:1; Ps. 90:2; Isa. 6:1-3; Isa. 45:5-7; Matt. 28:19; acts 17:24-25; Rom. 11:33-36; 2 Cor. 13:14; 1 John 3:20

JESUS CHRIST

We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary - a miraculous process by which He was received a human body and a sinless human nature. We believe He lived a sinless life of perfect obedience to the law of God. Through his death on the cross, He made provision for the salvation of sinful people. We believe He was raised from the dead with a glorified body, ascended into heaven where He rules over the universe, prays for His people, and will one day return visibly to planet earth. Matt. 1:18-25; Joh. 1:1; Rom. 8:34; 1 Cor. 15:3-8; Col. 1:15-22; Col. 1:21; Col. 2:9; Tit. 2:13-14; Heb. 1:1-3; Pet. 2:21-24

THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe that the Holy Spirit comes to reside in those who trust Jesus Christ as Savior. The Holy Spirit acts in many ways including the giving of spiritual gifts, empowering the life of every believer, revealing spiritual truth, convicting of sin and drawing others who may be lost to Jesus Christ. We believe the Holy Spirit inspired the Scriptures authorship and fuels the mission of the church. The Holy Spirit empowers believers to overcome sinful habits and transforms them more into the likeness of Jesus Christ. Acts 1:8; 1 Cor. 1:8; 1 Cor. 2:12;

1 Cor. 12:7; Gal. 5:16; Eph. 5:18

THE BIBLE

We believe the Scriptures, both of the Old and New Testaments, are God's revelation to mankind. Everything humans need as far as spiritual inspiration is provided in the Bible, birthing from Genesis. Thus, we can progress, become strong, and more productive. Every problem we face can be matched with a piece of scripture. And like with everything else in our existence, it all connects to the biblical book, starting in Genesis. The Bible and its origins should be studied both like & unlike any other book. When considering that it was inspired by God (the Creator) through the Holy Spirit, written by over 40 authors over a 1500 year time period, and written in three different languages on three different continents, yet written with such symmetry and unity, whilst concurrently connecting to so much non-Biblical history, it is truly a library of books unlike any other piece of literature ever written and requires to be studied correctly. Deut. 4:2; Psa. 119:11; Psa. 89; Psa. 105; Psa. 160; Rom. 15:4; 2 Tim. 3:16; 2 Pet. 1:20-21, Rev. 22:18-19

SALVATION

We believe the Gospel of Grace, that those who turn from their sin and trust in Jesus Christ as their Savior become spiritually new people. They are declared "not guilty" for their sin and receive the gift of eternal life. This salvation is acquired through faith alone, apart from any good or religious works. Salvation is based entirely on the death of Jesus Christ on the cross, as their substitute. We believe that Christ's resurrection demonstrated God's full acceptance of His death as payment for sin, and that it foreshadows the final resurrection for all believers. Joh. 3:16-17; John 3:18; John 3:36; John 14:6; Rom. 4:25; Rom. 5:1; Rom. 5:6-9; Rom. 6:23; Rom. 8:1, Gal. 3:26; Eph. 2:8-9, Col. 1:13-14, Tit. 3:5
